Burnt Plastic
Today I wanted to know if scrap agricultural plastic (mostly LDPE, used silage wrap, feed bags...) could be extruded into dowels or injected into a mold. I made a small prototype injecting machine. It worked, kinda. Then it exploded. There was a fire. I learned something today.
Due to its low viscosity, high frost point and unlike oils, liquid polyethylene can be put out with water, in this case anyway. Next one I make will be more thoroughly held together and less 'splody. Note to self: learn to weld. Note to others: home injection molding is for the reckless, or at least the experienced.
