That's here: http://forum.orbitdownloader.com/viewtopic.php?id=54755&p=2 Again just for peeps in the UK, not a proxy issue, just a "some servers work, some don't" issue. moshimoshi writes... http://strix.org.uk/posts/The-BBC-iPlayer#c392125338254690098 moshimoshi Wed, 24 Sep 2008 23:16:24 +0000 http://strix.org.uk/posts/The-BBC-iPlayer#c392125338254690098 Replay Media Catcher (2.3) used to work like a charm, but not any more (no proxy issues here, I'm talking about downloading from within the UK). It captures the channel 'ident' video ok but not the show which follows. This has only just happened. Works great for other web video, just not the iPlayer. On the RMC website they suggest going to version 3 but they don't say why that would work when the old version doesn't... so I'm sceptical. Someone get on it please! But there's hope. Anyone with a usenet account can see that someone is recording BBC shows and sticking them in a.b.documentaries, it's just a matter of finding out how they're doing it :) moshimoshi writes... http://strix.org.uk/posts/The-BBC-iPlayer#c195728219674084723 moshimoshi Wed, 24 Sep 2008 23:16:24 +0000 http://strix.org.uk/posts/The-BBC-iPlayer#c195728219674084723 Replay Media Catcher (2.3) used to work like a charm, but not any more (no proxy issues here, I'm talking about downloading from within the UK). Last tried it about a month ago, and it was fine. This week, I'm having problems, I can view the live stream, but not download them. The downloaded one gives error 104. I was using a LAN connection, and now I'm using a 3G card, so maybe that's the difference. But I wonder if the BBC are getting tighter on their IP checking? Anyway have to fall back to the Slingbox with a PVR connected. Not such a nice resolution, but works really well. link: http://www.fareham.org link: http://www.fareham.org

If you aren't convinced speak to someone who has decided not to watch their TV and therefore pay their licence, then you will know the true nature of the BBC. For iPlayer they employ Microsoft, for the licence fee they employ.... Capita! link: http://www.theanaloguerevolution.com link: http://www.theanaloguerevolution.com

I was searching for a good UK proxy to watch the iPlayer content. As a comment on your conclusion: The public broadcast organisations in the Netherlands have a similar service named "Uitzending gemist" (missed broadcast) which is freely accessible from abroad and has almost all of their programming (some live stuff, mainly sports, is blocked though). The big difference with iplayer is the language and as the BBC sells a lot of their programs abroad, dutch broadcast organisations obviously do not. (I know Big Brother is dutch, but none of you have actually watched any dutch Big Brother, if you catch my drift). The BBC (and production companies etc) probably fear for their bargaining position, not to mention the legal hassle, if they opened up their system. Which is, I believe, the main reason the BBC uses the accursed geolocation blocking thingie.link: http://www.uitzendinggemist.nl/ link: http://www.uitzendinggemist.nl/

Let me clarify something that was already mentioned. I connect to the site using my normal isp. I switch to the proxy just before I click download. Once download as started you can pause and swap back to your normal isp. You will have to swap back briefly before you play the file as the BBC check the ip address as it sends you the DRM file. I just want to sit down click a button and watch TV - not look for free / working IPs... I happen to use one of the services here that has been called a "rip-off" - but it works for me - everytime - watched the Champions League match on ITV... nearly turned off after 15 mins - glad I didn't.link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/veta_mark/2311675401/ link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/veta_mark/2311675401/
