Thsi 1960 number 1 song was almsot accidental. Verne was a construction worker and out of four other workers was chosen to be the singer because of his "southern drawl".
I made this months ago and have had a hard time puting it on youtube because of the language in the song. It is derogatory towards American Natives and with that said, adults should keep this in mind when children are watching this for its otherwise historical content. Its a good opportunity for discussion. Does anyone think this record could be made today?
